How to get high search engine rankings

So, do you think you are ready to play with the Big e-sharks Boys yet?
Let’s see, you have spent the last few months building an outstanding network of high paying affiliates programs: all relevant advertisement has already been placed in its allocated slot, but it’s still not bringing you any revenue. You also think you have great content in your web pages, but none of it it's actually delivering a good performance – or even not performance at all.
Perhaps you could account for hundreds of hours spent in front of your computer screen, manually submitting your site to search engines (or pinging services, in case of a blog), and posting your opinion in all sort of web forums, hoping to get thousands of clicks to your traffic and drastically improve yourself. But the truth of it all is that those endless hours have driven nothing more than a few dozen one-time  visitors to your site.
You know it takes some time for quality inbound links to link to your site. But how long is some time: months, years, decades?
Let’s face it, adding everything up doesn’t pay for the hosting services, the broadband, or even the daily coffee treat in Starbucks. Time is money. And you are losing hundreds by the day: you simply don’t know it yet.
If you fall into the above category of successful wannabe e-marketers –don’t take offense, I, too, was there once-; I recommend you to take a look at my simple instructions to correctly optimize your website, before you decide to go on and waste even more money in advertisement.
To get the best result out of this tutorial, you should follow each step in the correct order.

Tips for submitting your url to search engines

Today, in this last step, we are going to submit our url to search engines. Once more, for free. But before doing so, let me first take you through the basics of url search engine submission.

Submitting your website to search engines, is a way of inviting them to come and have a look at your website. When submitting your url to search engines, you should only submit one web page. Submitting more than one web page can be seen as an attempt to spam search engines. Avoid doing this because you run the risk of getting banned from them.
The one page you must submit to search engines should be your homepage, and it should look something like this:

www.your-site.com

or

www.your-site.com/sitemap.htm

Search engines will start indexing your website at the submitted page.
They will find your other web pages via the links on the submitted web page.

Either if you are submitting to search engines or to directories (or both), always make sure that your websites falls under the correct categories.

If you happen to have a multilingual website, then submit only your home page for each language section of your website individually.

Do not submit your website to search engines if:

  • Your domain is a redirection to another domain.
  • Do not submit multiple domains that lead to the same web page.
Some people would also say that you should not submit your website to search engines if you do not have your own domain name. This, however, is a point of discussion that will be soon available in another post. In the meantime, I'll let you make you own choices.

A final word

If your website is not listed in the search engines, it should be enough to submit it once every four weeks. Some search engines will penalize your website if you submit often than that.

Also, it is normally sufficient to check your search engine rankings once a month, as most search engines do not update their database as often.
